confidence and Genuine Expression

All of my headshot packages include what I consider to be two of the most important ingredients - relaxed confidence and genuine expression. In my opinion, if a headshot photographer fails to achieve those characteristics in their subjects, they have generally failed to achieve a good headshot. Unfortunately, there are many 'professional' headshot photographers out there that are simply unaware of the importance of these ingredients, or they do not care. This will show in their work, so examine that portfolio carefully!

Personalized coaching and direction

Let's face it - most of us (unless we're paid to be in front of the camera) wouldn't place getting a headshot very high on the list of fun things to do. We also really don't know what to do with ourselves when in front of the lens. This is why it is critically important that your headshot photographer knows how to direct and coach you to your best headshot. They are literally the only person who can see what you're doing at the moment the shutter is clicked. For this reason, you need a photographer that fully understands and has implemented a system to coach and direct people to their best shot. If your headshot photographer isn't talking to you during the shoot, you're not likely going to get a good shot from your session.

sincere care and connection

I spent almost 20 years in the corporate world before turning fulltime professional photographer. During that time, I learned a lot of different things about myself and others. One of my conclusions about the corporate world was that genuine human connection with others was one of the few things that I actually enjoyed about my job. I tended to gravitate toward others that also valued those things. I'm quite a bit more self aware than I was back then, and guess what - I still really value a real connection with the people that I work with! I care about you and the outcome of your headshot session, and I'll do everything in my power to help you achieve the best shot possible.
